Certainly King's best writing and this is just a short story. Then they made this movie which was pitch perfect.

Of all of Stephen King's adaptations to film, this has to be the best. Some of the others were rather dismal, though I watched them all, as I continue to read every single thing he writes.
It is great to revisit movies and books read at a much younger age to see how time and perspective changes our reactions and challenges our memories.
