I'm with you. I would love to have a patio like this for my house and I'm all about DIY but wow, that would be an epic undertaking.

Yeah these are extremely challenging even for experts in construction. I'm a union bricklayer and fireplaces built for outdoors are extremely difficult to build and really costly. If you don't live in a warm climate the weather does a number on the stone too. Couldn't tell you how many I've had to repair after a really cold winter. Water gets behind the stone and freezes and pops the stone off. They definitely are meant for warm climates
