As this comes from the type of people who like to push the envelope, it kind of makes me concerned about what comes next in a fourth wave. What else will there be to attack, I wonder?
I don't think Third Wave Feminism is a necessary consequence of Second Wave. It seems to me that the victemhood/entitled mentality is more a product of this generation since it can be seen in other areas as well. Sometimes when a good thing goes this far the next generation reacts against it and we get a course correction. Here's hoping. We need men to be men and women to be women and not what 1940s/1950s movies and TV said they should be. Men today often need to grow up and accept responsibility.
I had not see in that light and I hope you're right on a course correction. I always thought of some progressive movements as a series of one-ups-manship after the original goals had been attained. That doesn't really matter because the solution you put forth will solve just about any social ill and as a father, these things are at the forefront of my mind constantly.
Looking at the previous generations in my family, I would say that (especially southern, because that is what I know) women developed their own type of toughness and thick skin. Good article, even if I have to sadly agree.

This is why I'm mostly comfortable with Second Wave Feminism but really bugged by Third Wave.

Well, things very seldom go back to where they were and most often it seems that not a bad thing. Still, I'm an optimist. :)
