I'm not a fan of Mitt or Obama, but most of all politicians. Why must they lie and cover things up? All of them do it, both repulsicans and dumbassocrats.

One reason may be that claiming responsibility doesn't make it legit. This email doesn't bother me, it just makes me want to know how long it took them to confirm it.
How dumb would they look if they said "People on Facebook said it was al Qaeda, and that's good enough for us"?

I understand your point dirtdoc. If this was isolated I would probably not let it bother me either, for we all make mistakes.
I think we all knew, maybe w/o evidence that these attacks were coordinated and not just spontaneous events related to a movie. As far as how long it took our government to acknowledge the attacks as a concerted terror effort it was about 10-12 days. Too long.
As for accepting responsibility, they usually listen to any of the terror groups with major affiliation.
I guess I just would like to hold our government accountable for what happens to our people. Right now they basically get away with whatever they want and people blindly vote them back into office.

I get what you're saying.
I think one thing that complicates the issue is that saying it was just a terror attack is probably wrong. The terror groups were waiting, and when the movie came out and protests started up (as they do) and the terror group used it as cover. Perhaps the helped whip it up. But it seems as though some of the conversation is"the entire thing was a terror attack, and all those in the protests were working with the terror group", I think thats laughably improbable.
Your final point is spot on - some conscientious voting would be good. But then people'd have to do research, and consider issues beyond the hot button, and even cease the magical thinking that the president (or really any other elected official) has a button to push to make jobs come back. I don't really see that happening.

Thanks dirtdoc, I appreciate your input, clearly reasonable and thought out.
