OSSA Chair
Posted by leibal from blog.leibal.com
Ossification is the process of laying down new bone by cells called osteoblasts; in other words it is how bone tissue is made in our bodies. Ossa, the latin word for bone, is the name Johannessen & Clarke chose for their new chair. It tributes to human spinal anatomy with its mid-folding hinge design. The angles and precise spacing of the spine hinge allows the “bones” to only bend in one direction and lock into position when opened. The designer describes the OSSA to have anthropomorphic characteristics which are amplified when the chair is folded down.
