The Codex is a sacred totem/information product that contains humanity's accumulated wisdom, etched upon on super tiny, super capacitive Micro SDHC memory cards, that are permanently sealed within the product. As Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking wax poetic about the precious gift of existence, the eVr1 Codex puts it in your hand.

The data contained in the Codex is the sum total of human excellence, the culmination of the 200,000 year-old human story, an interconnected weave of spirit and matter, art and science, as captured by the following:
- A selection of practical how-to manuals covering first aid, agriculture, engineering, etc.
- The entire Wikipedia corpus (3.9M articles).
- A robust selection of the world's canonical texts, from Gilgamesh to Confucius to Homer to Plato to the Mahabharata to Shakespeare to Whitman.
- The sacred texts of the world's religions, from the Bible to the Tao Te Ching to the Upanisads.
- A collection of recent thinking on the human experience from leading scientists (Douglas Hofstadter, David Bohm, Fred Alan Wolf), philosophers (Ken Wilber, Richard Dawkins) and psychologists (Daniel Goleman).

For the full list of texts included, please visit the eVr1 Canon. The works in this Canon are humanity's best, representing a library worth several thousand dollars. If you skimmed the cream off the top of the internet, you would be left with the few GB that comprise the eVr1 Canon.

Construction
The Codex is a riveted leather totem, containing the eVr1 Canon written upon a 16GB Micro SDHC card, and sealed with a material that adds water/dust/air/heat/radiation/electricity resistance. It is then hand-sewn together and riveted within two pieces of leather. The seal that protects the Micro SDHC card is no ordinary seal - it is made from material designed to withstand 950 PSI, 8,000 volts and temperatures up to 500F.

Once sealed it is placed between two pieces of leather, and then hand sewn and riveted. The leather is then secured to the Omega clasp, a rugged stainless steel Omega shaped ring with a screw pin. It is heavy, purposefully so, such that you don't forget you have it.

Use
It is designed to be played with and meditated upon daily, whether at home or work or car. You can secure it to a belt loop, valuables or rear-view mirror. It can used as a zipper pull for your briefcase, camera bag, purse, messenger bag or adventure gear. Wherever you keep it, be sure its someplace visible so that you can see, touch and meditate upon it everyday.

Accessing the Wisdom
As a Codex owner, you can access this wisdom in two ways:
- [Coming Soon] The eVr1 customers-only Wisdom Locker. To be launched in 2012, the Wisdom Locker will contain the full text versions of each of these titles, allowing you the ability to access the data online, as well as download it to other devices for storage, printing, etc.
- By dissembling the Codex to retrieve the data on the Micro SD memory card. Simply cut the seam, remove the Micro SDHC Card and cut away the seal with a razor blade. Doing so would destroy the product, so this is only for an emergency scenario.

It is etched with your choice of the following archetypal symbols:
- Infinity - instilling you with wonder and humility, given the grand scale and expanding nature of the cosmos. As neuroscientist, David Eagleman observes, "what you really learn from a life in science is the vastness of our own ignorance." It humbles us before all we have not yet explored and all we do not yet know. It points to the infinite potential of the human being, one that allows our minds and hearts to reach beyond our bodies and bring this cosmos home.
- Delta - reminding you of the ever-changing nature of existence. It calls you into a space of equanimity, as during both good times and bad, we know, this too shall pass. As meditation teacher, Shinzen Young explains, equanimity is "the radical non-interference of the natural flow of sensory experience."
- Double Helix - a reminder of the genetic bonds we share amongst our species, as well as the ties we have to the rest of the animal kingdom. Are we, as Stanford neurobiologist and primatologist, Robert Sapolsky, asks, "just another primate?"
- Wave - water, the building block of life. Our earth is covered with it to such an extent we appear as a blue marble from the vantage point of the cosmos. As marine biologist, Dr. Wallace J. Nichols articulates, water itself is a meditation - "When I go to the ocean, it makes me very happy. I have new thoughts. It opens up my imagination... and as a scientist, you're kinda not allowed to talk about love for the ocean, but it's why we do what we do." Like the waves of the ocean, we are but peaks on the vast connected substrate of the Universe.

Like the NASA Voyager's Golden Records, the Codex is a symbolic expression of human excellence and like the Islamic Tasbih, the Hindu Mala Beads, the Christian Rosary, the Tibetan Prayer Wheel and Jewish Mezuzah, the Codex is a meditation, putting your life in a rich, connected context, helping you to choose a life of passion, wonder and integrity.

“There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle or you can live as if everything is a miracle.” Albert Einstein
