What's the point of providing commentary if you're simply going to dismiss the message without a) giving it serious thought or b) backing up your statements with something of value?
You know what they say about opinions and assumptions..

I'm all for legalization of marijuana (although I don't smoke, never been a big fan of the stuff to be honest), but some of the information here is very misleading and/or false.
- Alcohol itself is not an addictive substance. It is psychologically addictive. Because it relieves stress and anxiety it becomes a crutch and people can become dependent upon its effects. What this chart fails to mention is that marijuana can have also be addictive in the same fashion.
- Marijuana does not cure cancer. Studies have shown that THC, a chemical found it marijuana can have cancer-curing effects. However this does not mean that cannabis cures cancer, and it is ignorant to jump to such an unfounded conclusion.
- Saving the policy millions is absolutely spot on actually. The war on drugs is a waste of money that turns small time potheads into hardened criminals through unfair prison sentences. Such a waste.
- Grows brain cells is also a gross exaggeration. The University Of Saskatchewan study refers to, "a synthetic substance similar to ones found in marijuana". However upon further reading you'll find that this substance is 100 times stronger than the THC found in cannabis, and is used in a very specific way to achieve the results.

Thanks, Craig, for sorting some of that out.

I guess a better way to frame the question is to ask how can you let one be legal while the other remains illegal?
whether or not this graphic is is factual, the point is that either legalize them both or outlaw them both but alcohol being legal while marijuana is not is just plain stupid.

Yeah, I totally agree. There's definitely a bit of hypocrisy. The situation becomes almost laughable when you learn that hemp was banned in the 1930's because it threatened the paper industry.
To be honest I think what has kept the ban in place is the type of out-spoken proponents that marijuana attracts: hippies and stoners. The reputations of those two groups have dragged weed down with them, despite it's popular use among all ethnicities, ages, and professions.
It's been popping up on a few ballots recently though, so there is hope for the future! I know California could sure use the billions of tax dollars that would roll in after legalization.

Weed does not cure cancer, but is a cancer treatment that relieves nausea of chemo patients. But Hemp oil, that is made from cannabis does not contain THC, and has been proven to cure many types of cancer. That is right, there are cancer cures. If you believe that Big Pharma is telling you the truth that all we can do is treat, then you are extremely uninformed. Grows brain cells? that is false, it definitely kills them when smoked. Not when vaporized. The argument still stands, as our past surgeon general once stated, "Marijuana is the safest intoxicant known to mankind."
