FN has a reputation for making world class firearms for decades longer than Glock has even been around. The FNP has a better grip angle, and comes with a safety that makes it the better choice by far in my opinion.

I have carried my FN for years, and it gets the job done for me. Like you said, the grip angle can take some getting used to, but it's not a bad pistol.
As far as their reputation goes? Yeah, any company that makes our M-240B's and M-249 SAW's has some street cred in my book.

FN also made the M4 that I'm carrying right now. Or at least the lower receiver.
I personally prefer a pistol *without* external safeties. Less to fiddle with when things are at their worst. We can debate muscle memory and dry-fire all day, but at the end of the day, simple is better in my mind. But I'm also experienced and trained far beyond what the "everyman" usually receives.
But the point is taken on the single Glock trigger safety. The grip and trigger safety of my Springfield XDs suits me, and I've carried them concealed for years now.
