McQueen is awesome, but The French Connection has the best chase scene. Honorable mentions go to The Transporter, Ronin, and The Italian Job (old and new).

The main reason I have never gone with the French Connection is because I don't enjoy the movie as much as Bullitt. Plus, Steve McQueen is just a little cooler and tougher in my book. Props on mentioning Ronin, good flick.

Good chase yes. Greatest chase? Maybe not.

I have a hard time deciding which is #1: the car chase from Bullitt or the car chase in Ronin?

How many times does he pass the VW or lose his hub cap it was amazing cause it was filmed on 5 streets from about 100different angles and stitched together to make i scene.

Other great car chases, To Live And Die In LA, The Road Warrior, and probably the most brilliant car chase ever filmed; the Moscow car chase in The Bourne Supremacy!

What, no votes for the Blues Brothers tearing up an entire mall? Oh, and Bullitt is awesome.

Does The Great Escape count? McQueen was on a motorcycle, however he was being chased by about 100 nazis driving everything they had. That scene was sooo badass that even Mcqueen used a stunt man for part of it, which is un-heard of.

Great escape is the best in my book. But I probably need to go watch Bullitt.

Bullitt is the greatest, no other movie can do what it did for movie history, it is the first and the greatest.

From a younger buck's perspective...I'm partial to the Hummer chase scene in The Rock. Not the greatest movie ever , but an incredible scene nonetheless. (BTW, Has Nicholas Cage ever been in a GREAT movie? Con Air and Raising Arizona are "good", maybe "very good", but "great"?)

No disagreement here but I think the 2nd best is the chase scene at the end of the the newer gone in 60 seconds, the one with Nickolas Cage.
