The strings in mine (lower version) were glued in and could not be replaced after they broke in less than a month. Amazon gave me a choice of $16 refund or return them. I should have returned them. Then, mine have different soles than those shown, but they wore through in less than six months of occasional wear. Amazon was fair to me, but I'm done with Timberland's over-priced Chinese crap.

Oh my. Very sorry to hear that. I bought my Timberlands in-store. They have had no issues concerning quality.
