On the plus side, it has a great cast, amazing production design, and stunning effects!

The story has it's good points, and the origin of man plotline is interesting and moves the story forward, but the movie never really seems to live up to the sum of it's parts. The script includes some clever nods the the original film, but it also has some continuity issues and obvious plot holes that will drive some fanboys crazy.

As a horror film, it's not nearly as scary as Ridley's original "Alien" was, and as an action movie, it doesn't come close to Cameron's sequel "Aliens".

Overall, it's entertaining, and the best of the franchise since the first two, but it's not great!

I hope he does better with his follow up to Blade Runner!
