Sad to say, I know more than a few people like this. If they venture too far off the beaten path of safe civilization, the modern demigod Darwin shall take his share.
To look evil, danger, terror in the eye and deny it's existence or affect on you or society because it doesn't line up with your preferred belief system is the definition of blind faith. And if you continue to ignore the truth of what is in front of you and you suffer the consequences of it, it is your fault. Not the fault of others. Not the fault of other belief systems. Yours.
If I tell you to get out of the street because you may get hit by a bus but you believe buses are inherently good it's the drivers who are evil and you get hit by said bus...not my fault. Yours. Because, again, stupid should hurt. It is how we learn sometimes.
