We don’t need nearly as much protein as we consume

When I see stuff like this I always think about how Hershel Walker only eats soups and salads all day long and is a physical specimen in his 50's.
I have no idea what the right answer should be.

I eats what I wants. My food is vegetarian, I'm not.

I don't think Hershel Walker is an example of an ordinary human. We can learn from one in a million outliers, but what works for them won't work for everyone.

"Protein bars are really just candy bars with a bit of extra protein." Yep. And 2-3 times the price to boot. I'm too cheap to eat lots of protein.
I tried various protein powders and shakes in the past and all of them made me feel like crap so now I learned that was the FODMAPs.

I've never had stomach issues with protein bars/shakes. That said, when I chomp down on a protein bar deep down I know it's basically candy.

Yes. The whole 1g per pound is for intensive muscle building. Excellent article. Thank you.
