Now...tipping is racist?
I put myself through college on tips and busting my ass in all manner of restaurants. I averaged $16-$25 an hour where as minimum wage or another hourly job would have never brought in that kind of income.
Any thoughts on this new rewriting of history? I, for one, am getting tired of the bleeding heart equality crap, and I am a gay man.
You want to get paid. Get to work. Be the best you can be and the money will follow. GTFO of here with this crap. Some people make more money waiting cause they are better at their jobs and don't expect to get handed money because they showed up to work.
I'll shut up now before I go off.

*SMH* I can't even.
I'm so tired of this "Let's try and link everything to slavery, racism, fascism, etc so as to embarrass, harass, cajole and shame people based on the color of their skin as long as the color of their skin is white".
I worked my way through flight school at a restaurant in a hotel. I worked room service and bartended. I make the aforementioned $2.13/hour but was raking in way more than that on tip.
My son is working at a high end restaurant. He routinely works a double (lunch then dinner), gets home late but is raking in, on a slow day, $100 in tip. On a good day? Kid walked home with $500 in tip. On top of his wage. And because it's a restaurant he hustles pretty much the whole time. I know, I've been there and seen him work.
This article will lead to the inevitable $15/hour minimum wage argument. All $15/hour minimum wage does is help a few and hurt the many. See Seattle, Portland, L.A., SFO and various other states and cities that have implemented it. Not going as well as they thought. You can't pay beginners in the work place the same as someone who's paid their dues, worked their butt off and taken their previous experience and moved on to the next, better paying job.

Any thoughts... yes. I think it's all in the name of pushing a narrative. I agree with you that it is very annoying, this desire to have equality of outcome without seeming to value equality of opportunity. That's my perception. I think rational people need to just start calling the crap, as you have done and I appreciate that you did it.
I saw this video a little while back. It's addressing the concept of the racist origins of tipping. Just thought I'd post it here as it is topical.

Must clarify. The video I linked is a
rebuttal of the idea that tipping is racist.

I enjoyed that video. An excellent unpacking and synopsis while they dissected and deconstructed that fallacious and fraudulent piece of contrived tripe.

I am not going to even watch it.
There are certain types of people in the world today that want to claim everything is racist. It's getting absurd.
