I've found that the best way to make cheap alcohol taste better is to drink plenty of better-tasting alcohol beforehand...

I've seen hacks using charcoal water filters for vodka or some kind of blender to aerate red wine. Some people have also tried adding glycerol to improve the feel and sweetness of wines.
