I was a little bummed out to learn that this is only for their employees, but it'll be a good test case. Nearly 1 million employees between the three of them should provide a good sample size.
I'm interested to see how this goes and what their primary targets for cost-savings end up being, i.e. costs of the healthcare itself and/or costs of humans making unhealthy lifestyle choices. Friend of a friend works for Blue Cross Blue Shield and BCBS employees now have to pay increased premiums for being overweight according to BMI.
I'm pretty optimistic about this. Something needs to be done to shake up health care in this country and I think Bezos and Buffett will make some interesting moves with this. It is good for the 1 million employees and I think the idea is that it will progress beyond that at some point.
