Agree. In my old job, IT security was a collateral duty for a coworker and me. We'd watch an episode of the IT Crowd before every weekly IT conference call. :)
However, yeah, that first US pilot was simply unwatchable. I'd never seen or heard of the second or third try. I just don't know that they will be able to capture the decidedly British humor. I saw Netflix has a new comedy series where they actually make fun of US producers trying to do a US version of a British comedy. It's called "Episodes". I caught the first one, and it displays the crossover problem nicely. :D
This show horrrrrrible. The casting was wrong. Chris O'Dowd as Roy worked because he was lovable and didn't seem to have a mean bone in his boy. Joel McHale came across as vicious to me. Richard Ayoade seemed out of place in the US version.
What they SHOULD do is do an American show with different characters expect have Ayoade as Moss as the Director of IT and he's clueless. Not sure how he got the job, doesn't understand America, and would rather do the IT work. Grab some other characters to be his staff. It could work but it doesn't have to be like ^ was.
Just to clarify, when I said "This show horrrrrrible" a) I missed the word "was" and b) was only referring to the US pilot. The original was brilliant. Were it not for The Office and the profoundly successful US version, I would be tempted to say, "Please don't remake this."

The IT Crowd is my favorite show bar none. But the US pilot is unwatchable.

Yeah, I'd really only want to watch a reboot with the original cast.

And now I must go watch an episode which will turn into four or five episodes.
