On one hand, the premise is pretty cool. On the other hand, it's pretty creepy. I'm still on the fence with the basic premise of a connected home.

I don't open my door to strangers even when I'm at home. The idea of opening it when I'm away sends shivers down my spine.

Do the couriers in the US call you prior to delivery?

Nah, they just drop it on the porch and bail, unless some other arrangements are made. It's a fragile system.

Here, in Ukraine, you won't even see your package without showing your ID and signing the delivery note. Some services even ask you about the preffered time of delivery and they always call you an hour before the courier's arrival.

I've been looking for a digital lock system for my door with a camera and some 1 million candle-power lights.

This is not it. Creep factor X 10.

Ha! How many ways can I say, "No Thank you!"

This couldn't possibly be abused in any way, he said sarcastically.

Honestly, I think the weirdest thing is the premise of the whole home system. Always watching, always listening... it's a privacy nightmare.

I saw this on the news Wednesday night and thought, "how many ways could this possibly go wrong."

I'm with you. I will say that you would have to think one of the largest companies in the world (largest? I can't remember) would have thought this through fairly well and all the implications that come with it.

But yeah, it will be abused. There will be lawsuits.

Don't forget y'all: Amazon is a data company too. Google is a data company so they can sell advertisements, Amazon is a data company so they sell directly to you. This is more of the same.
