I just can't believe that the current methods are the current methods for developing a "smart" car. Seems to me like they need a "smart" road as well.

I respect Pratt's honesty. I know exactly how hard it is to try to make an object that won't harm a customer or bystander, and then prove that you've really thought of everything. It is just very, very hard to get it all right, and unlike with cars driven by humans, every single accident would be the responsibility of the manufacturer.

Is it wrong of me to say, "good"? I don't know that I want a world of self driving cars and high funstioning AI. Not to say that it isn't possible to be a good world and benefit all mankind... I remain skeptical; not sure I'm ready for these things yet.

Imagine America with an extra couple of million men who have lost their jobs as truck and delivery drivers. I really can't understand why this is being pursued so hard.
