To be honest, I rarely watch/read any news since we cut the cord on cable and our newspaper. But I will admit I trust very few outlets.

I do watch and read the news and it's become so obvious over the last few years (maybe it always was) that they're pushing their agenda aka propaganda. I mean I thought I could remember a time when CNN was an actual news organization but that may have been a dream.

Personally, I believe CNN changed after Desert Storm. I think they saw the power in "breaking news" and how it could captivate large audiences. That, in turn, created enormous amounts of ad revenue. I always felt that was when they sold out.

Too many of the ones on the bottom side subscribe to the theory of "Never let the truth stand in the way of a good story".

I find it odd that CBS was basically neutral. I believe that's because their liberal agenda is more subtle. It can be seen in CBS Sunday Morning. For the most part, that show as pretty middle of the road or leaned slightly left. Since Jane Pauley has been at the helm, it has shifted left quite a bit.
The CBS Morning Show as a fave of mine back in the early 00's. Still a little left but Harry Smith was a great journalist. When they changed format and brought in Charlie Rose to helm, again, a big shift left.
Some of the younger 20-somethings who are "friends" with me on FB; mostly the kids of parents I know or kids from the Kung Fu school I taught at, constantly post Occupy Democrats as their go-to source for news. When logic and fact are brought in to the mix, BOOM! Heads asplode!
I rarely link to FoxNews stories anymore but when I do I usually through out the caveat to look beyond the fact that it came from Fox and read the article.
There are still good journalists out there. You have to dig through a lot of ideological flotsam and jetsam but they are out there.
(My local FoxNews affiliate in DFW is my go-to for my morning news. Mainly because they capture the irreverence of the earlier Fox-vibe. There is a healthy mix of left, right, middle in the newsroom so you do tend to get a fair and balanced report.

Good stuff here. I have believed for a while now that the best approach is to 1.find the bias in your source, 2.be aware of it, and 3.actively seek out a different point of view. I don't believe the truth is always in the middle, but it is good to see various takes on an issue.
Sometimes, a story is covered truthfully from a biased source, but not even mentioned by outlets whose narrative might be negatively affected by it.

The BBC has gone on a strong leftwards tilt in recent years. They have been criticised for their bias against Brexit and they are also very anti Trump and have lots of articles supporting the de-gendering crusade.
