Someone discusses what I have noticed for a while but never really heard discussed anywhere else. I am one of those who dropped ESPN as live sports were the only draw I had to cable. Turns out, I'm ok with not spending all Saturday afternoon/evening watching college football. I miss it but I couldn't justify the $85+ a month and two year contract just for ncaa football....and that's ok.
Not sure agreement with this article is wide spread but it opens up a conversation I've not heard many other places, and dialogue is a good thing.

well when 90% of it is about one or two players i can see, also i am sick of hearing about tiger woods and how he has dropped out of a tournament or did not make the cut for a tournament. the one plus is they have stopped talking about tim tebow or johnny manziel

Good point. That was annoying too. I equated it to being like the 24 hour news cycle that starts to create the news. And would be very happy not to see or hear about Manziel for a long time.

Ben Domenech at TheFederalist.com has been making this point in their podcast for a while. He did an interview with Bram Weinstein, the former Sports Center host who explained what the working environment was like. Good episode if you'd like to hear more about this.
People tune in to ESPN to hear about sports, not politics. That's what MSNBC is (theoretically) for. And the sad thing is that ESPN doesn't have a clue why.

I'll check that out, thanks.
You nailed it though...It seems like so many off putting issues/people boil down to a lack of self-awareness.

I'm not a sports fan, and I don't have cable. Tgat b said, ESPN is usually on at the gym when I work out. The casual and limited viewing that I give them, I can see their liberal bias. I won't watch them on purpose.

I am one of those who is not OK without watching college football every Saturday, Friday night, Thursday night, and in the month of November every Tuesday and Wednesday night. However, I have not "listened" to a game in the past three years. I put the announcers on mute and just enjoy watching the game.
