I'm a huge fan of Mr. Money Mustache, and I subscribe to nearly all of the stuff from the article.

I am likewise a fan of Mr. Money Mustache and haven't paid for anything fitness (except race entries) for about three years. Knowing that my fitness is 100% up to me and not up to a gym is a huge motivator, and I'm in the best shape of my life. I have not, however, tried squats in the snow, so that might need to happen.

I think I could put a rack outside my back door. My neighbors already think I'm insane.

Wish I would have known. I just sold my rack and free weights to a guy in Pittsburg, KS about a month ago. Gave him a heck of a deal too.

Ah, that's a pity. I'll have to convince my wife that we have room for a set first ;)

I once made my own squat rack out of 4x6 posts; it was a lot of fun. My spotter pegs were all metal pipes and could handle more weight than I could at the time. But through constant training, I've come to need better and better equipment.
As cool as the picture may look, I chuckle that he is using a pad while wearing a think jacket.

"thick" not think, but now that I look at it, I'm being redundant. The only pads to be worn when squatting are to be worn by ladies.
