Unfortunately, it will probably be purchased by some wealthy person and then stored in their private garage for personal viewing only.

Agreed. This is what bugs me about collectors buying guitars too. They weren't meant to be put on display, they were meant to be played. I still remember scratching the paint job on the first "expensive" electric guitar that I ever bought. I was about 11 years old and the guitar cost about $800. I was really upset with myself for scratching it for about 10 minutes, then I realized that I had already scratched it so I didn't have to be worried about damaging it anymore. I also realized how silly it was to try to keep something pristine that was supposed to be a tool. My guitar still has that scratch on it, but it sounds the same and I learned a valuable lesson from it.
