I second that sentiment, at least from a durability standpoint.
I have a box of VHS in my garage that have been in extreme heat and cold, as well as humidity for the past 15 years, and they still work.
Meanwhile, my kids have played with a Blu-ray disc for about 30 seconds and it's unusable.
