I get no "paper taste" with my Aeropress. Also, I am concerned about cleaning these filters since it seems like they could trap oils which *would* affect the taste.
Color me skeptical.

I do agree that I don't get a paper taste with my aeropress either, but have always wanted a metal filter. It would create coffee with similar character to a French press, with the depth of the aeropress, oh, that could be drink made in heaven. The metal filer would actually filter out less oils then the paper filter would.
I am not an expert, but, I have worked in the coffee world for over 20 years from the big evil chain that must not be mentioned to opening and running my own microroatery for 10 years.

In addition to the paper filters, I've been using both versions of the Able Brewing Disk, and have definitely enjoyed the resulting cup. The Disk Fine tends to be my standard, but if I'm interested in a little more full-bodied cup (more French-Press-like), the regular Disk is very good. This one from KoHi Labs sounded interesting to me since it seems to be even finer than what I've got in the the Able Disks—and who doesn't need more options for brew methods? ;-)
