I was not aware this battle was going on. If Delta did this on purpose, I think it is hilarious.

Yeah, it was posted by a Delta Pilot friend. I have a have a lot of long conversations with my Delta Pilot buddies. They have some interesting info on how the other countries operate and how dangerous some are (like the Asian airlines who put 25 year olds in 777s). The Delta Pilots (and most US airlines) are Unionized, and this is one area where I believe that Unions help protect lives and jobs.
