Coming out of the closet: I am an old school DE shaver. Heck, I even dabble with the straight razor. I love the mug and badger brush BUT I have used many soaps, and, although this may seem feminine, I am going to throw it out there....coconut oil gives me the cleanest, best shave. It also pre-moisturizes my face so I don't need to after shaving. And, it is natural.

I could see a natural oil being a good option, especially with a straight razor. However, this little video has shaped the way I see coconut oil:

Actually I need to thank you for that vegan related post a while back. It sucked me down the "ultra spiritual" rabbit hole. I binged a little, but I'm
better....and more ultra spiritual now.

That video is hilarious! He has some of the funniest videos, particularly the one on gluten and vegetarians.

Ah! I haven't given coconut oil a shot, but I'll have to.
Because of my beard, I typically only shave my neck, meaning I don't really bother with shaving cream at all and just use soap or lotion. Ideal? Nope. But I don't care.
