We did the hard work of tasting a whole bunch of bourbons to find the absolute best bottles under $40. It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it.

Definitely a good list....woodford reserve is an excellent bourbon. If I had to make a list of under $20 a bourbon I stumbled across at CVS, Jethro T. Boots is a great choice. Great flavor and the name and bottle are just the icing on the cake

If you're a fan of wheated bourbons and looking for something more challenging than Maker's Mark (which is quite tasty, of course), I recommend W.L. Weller Special Reserve and Old Weller Antique. Buffalo Trace is the distiller and they have their own unique characteristics. Both have more of an edge and are less "sweet" than Makers. Old Weller Antique is 107 proof... so there's more kick (or you can add purified water to tame it a bit) and Special Reserve is smooth and clean with a light mineral finish. Neither are expensive.
