Merle Haggard, the working man’s poet, an architect of the Bakersfield Sound, and a fiercely independent artist who influenced country music like few others, died Wednesday in California.
A sad day. This man's music and messages truly impacted my life and is a connection that I share with my Dad and his love of the music. We had the opportunity to meet and visit with him after one of his concerts and he truly was a man of his words. Rest Easy, Mr. Haggard.
