It's so nice to post something that I consider good news! Of course, I'm no warfare strategist, but with the state of affairs in the world, I can hardly see how his isn't a good move for the Air Force and the country as a whole.

My understanding was that the Army wanted it but congress wouldn't give them a fixed-wing waiver. The Warthog pilots work closely with Army ground troops. It would make sense so of course, since congress is involved, it will never happen.

I worked these beasts for five years in England. These aircraft are nowhere near their end of life. Still lethal.

I know it is a ludicrous idea, but, some should be working on a not so glitzy low an slow, upgraded with the best Flir and electronics, real replacement for this venerable old bird. I know it is beyond our government's capabilities to do something intelligent. Instead we will fund another 5 trillion $ a copy boondoggle that will create jobs in some senior senator's district.
