I'm with ya. I hunt a great deal and sometimes in very remote areas. That means I am usually hiking in and out or my spot in the dark. The eyes and ears can be misleading during those times. But I always carry an extra pistol, just in case.
Wow! Great post. Scary, sad and I will now never stop looking for stairs in the woods. Or at least I will take a picture and run far and fast away. :-P
