A weapon is always loaded. I cannot believe it was not taken apart until 1981. That could have been a horrible accident.
It is hard to imagine what type of instantaneous heat could have melted and contorted that barrel so.

WI cannot believe that someone with such clouded judgement was not more grounded in making a safety check. They would have been powerless if something would have happened. Simply shocking! :-)
