Has anyone else read this? I do NOT endorse this Dad's paranoid view and illogical assumptions about the world around him, but felt it was worth posting to show the mindset of some of our citizens.
" Just as people have a right to bear arms, a person also has the right to feel safe."
"To me, that NRA decal on the rear window of your car represents violent death.
By displaying that NRA decal on the rear window of your car, you are endorsing violent death.
By endorsing violent death, you show me that you do not care about the tens of thousands of gun deaths in the United States every year."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but have any mass murdering shooters been NRA members? I can't recall any but correct me if I'm wrong.
He comes out in another blog post and says, "I don't like guns period.", so I don't buy his reasonable moderate type disclaimer at the beginning of this piece that explains his family background. To me, that's akin to the statement, "I have lots of (fill in the blank) friends" to qualify a negative statement.
I feel sorry for him though, to be so fearful of people because he doesn't understand them. I appreciate being made aware of perspectives I disagree with, but mostly, I have pity for this fellow. A twirl of the 'stach for a healthy exchange of ideas

Every right to "his" opinion, just keep your powder dry and at the ready, they are out there!

"... a person also has the right to feel safe"
Nope! Not one bit. It's not in our Constitution as a right. You have a right to pursue happiness, but no guarantee of it, and you do not have the right to feel safe. You may want it. You may try hard to find it, and believe me, I want it too. The great dilemma here, is that I feel safer WITH a gun. So even if it were a right, different people would still have different ideas of what safety is.

You highlight the most important aspect of the piece.

Everyone has the right to self-preservation. It exceeds any constitutional right.

It seems that Carter Gaddis has now made his blog "private" and only accessible to whom he sees fit, as well as disabling his social media. You can still view the article that prompted this posting the Google cache:

For reasons, which I can't seem to understand, folks like Mr. Gaddis always seem to blame the gun for the crime and not the mentally disturbed individuals that perform the acts.
I don't see people wanting to outlaw ropes that are used for suicides that tear apart families. I don't see any Brady Campaign personell wanting to outlaw or restrict the use of automobiles due to the hundreds of deaths caused by DUI's.
It seems that only when a gun is used as the object of the crime, that people take offense and misdirect their anger on the inanimate object instead of the individual who consciously committed the "violent act of death" as Mr. Gaddis describes it.
His statement that the NRA decal represents violent death is so misguided that he looses all credibility, in my opinion, with anything else he would wish to say.
