I've wondered about some of these shows but never enough to go down the Wikipedia rabbit hole to find out what they are about. I've seen only three on the list and only actually finished one: Band of Brothers. Although some of these shows I didn't even know we're HBO creations, so the list and synopsis was helpful. HBO has never really been my cup of tea though.
You really should check out the Larry Sanders Show - masterful take on celebrity and show business. And very very funny. And Band of Brothers? Absolutely one of the best viewing experiences of my life - tv, movies or otherwise.
Band of Brothers was a history lesson in itself. However, I watched it with my wife because she hadn't seen it yet. We decided to make it a marathon type experience (back before we had kids and could do these crazy things). I do NOT recommend this in a marathon format. Don't know what it was, but it made my head hurt terribly.
