    Not really. If you are the homeowner who put in the pool, you can expect to lose 50-70% of the installation cost when you sell the home. So it might make you sale price a little higher, but you will lose most of the investment overall. Found that out the hard way when I sold my last house.

      I was thinking more on the resale of the second owner but i guess it might be hard to sell to people with kids as safety conscious as everyone is anymore

        Yes, it can definitely help on resale so you are correct. Your other point is correct too and could be listed as a con. There are some buyers that won't even look at a house that has a pool because of safety or maintenance concerns. On the other hand, there are also people like us who would prefer to have a pool.
