I may not drink Bud or Coors and often say I'm a beer snob, wink, wink, nudge, nudge mainly because life's too short to drink crappy corporate beer. But I have to agree with the article in that too many of these young hipster doofuses (or is that doofi??) revel in the fact that they "don't drink that"...or eat that or wear that whatever "that" may be.
While I like Sam Adams I also like Fat Tire...and Innis and Gunn...and Guinness...and Shock Top. What I'm not into and it makes me the odd man out many times is very hoppy West Coast IPA's. I want to enjoy my beer not have it bite me!
So like Ben...I feel an urge to buy some Sam Adams...just to annoy a hipster.

I agree. Some people evolved from beer snobs to beer a-holes. My rule is to drink what you enjoy and do not comment on what others are having. It's rude and only leads to an argument that neither side will win. It is more polite to invite them to try a beer and then buy the first round for them.
And never turn down a free beer of any type. Best beer I ever had was someone else's. :-)

As the old adage goes...
It is poor form to complain about the type of free beer being offered. It is however acceptable to complain about the temperature of said beer.

Yeah, I have to admit to being a beer Neanderthal (maybe "Luddite" would be more accurate). Once I left my 20's I never felt the urge to force myself to drink stuff that gave me "bitter beer face" and pretend to like it to make my friends happy. Being refreshed is what I'm looking for: Bud Light (Budweiser once being the only American company able to satisfy German brewing laws) and Rolling Rock are my favorites. If I'm feeling exotic maybe Newcastle Brown or Pilsner Urquell (if it's still available, been a long time - and sad to hear Tres Equis disappeared) and I'm tempted to try some Newcastle Werewolf Ale, spotted at Costco. Yes, I'm the epitome of a corporate pawn.
