May I emphasize the point the many super bright lights are just not suitable for indoor use. My first "good" light was the Surefire G2X Tactical, a single stage light rated at 320 Lumens. Fire that up in the hallway and your eyes are done for a few minutes. Yes, pointing the light down and using it in short bursts helps but I'd like to use these for more general purposes, also.
I'm still liking the green LED (250 Lumen, still pretty bright!) to save the eyes and I think a 150 Lumen setting should be good for all-around and indoor use in both white and green LEDs. The problem is that everything is going for higher ratings so I'm a little screwed unless I get a 2 or 3-stage light with, maybe a 100-150 Lumen "Low" setting. Also, I'd like the light to use CR123 batteries. Will I ever find the perfect light?
I'm guilty of getting caught up in "more lumens." I gave my son-in-law an Olight M22 Warrior for Christmas. We went out at night and fired it up at 950 lumens. It is ridiculously bright. But for general use purposes it wouldn't make sense. So a Surefire at 320 lumens would be just the ticket for close quarters work.
