I did enjoy the first book. Considering the casting, I never thought they ever meant to go beyond that book. After the first season of Game Of Thrones I read all five of the Ice and Fire books. I'll never waste another minute on this crap. I still feel so burned I bring it up whenever I can. Oops! I did it again.

I didn't think Golden Compass would flop, I thought the series would flop. Book three is a mangled mess in the worst GRR Martin tradition.

I actually read the entire "His Dark Materials" series. I'm still not sure why; the whole thing was rather disappointing.
