This is a pretty good article, but he's made a pretty big error. Putting T1D's on oral meds won't help at all. The difference between T1 and T2 is that T1's stopped producing insulin naturally and produce none at all. I don't know if the oral meds will help their (my) body react more to the little insulin they're able to create in their "lab" or not, but in that scenario I'd be willing to try.
