US: We Do Not Pay Ransom to Terrorists
Posted by ben.terry from news.msn.com
I only put this up because I learned yesterday that other countries (Europeans) DO PAY RANSOMS. I don't get the logic behind it. How many more people can a terrorist kill with your millions that you spent to save one person.

That's right. We don't pay ransom. But we do, on occasion, exchange prisoners from Gitmo for them. It depends on the school lunch menu that day and, of course, the current direction of the political winds at the moment.

And how firm is this commitment? Is it another of B-HO's lines in the sand?

Yeah know, I do think that phrasing is interesting. I was watching Blacklist yesterday and the main character said "You know the problem with drawing lines in the sand? With a breath of air, they disappear." Just a thought
