Wake up America! They hate us, they want us dead and they despise our liberties. Turn the whole place into a glowing glass parking lot or get the hell out.
I think they despise the fact that the United States military, the largest and most powerful terrorist entity in the world, is occupying their land. Yes, our western worldviews and lifestyle is quite different than theirs, but they are pissed because our military is over there, not because of our "liberties". Unless of course by "liberties" you mean how we take the liberty of strong-arming other countries into submitting to the "western democratic" power system.
Either way, you're right that we Americans need to wake up. Wake up from our television induced stupor where we live our lives under a veil of lies and deceit woven by our corporate government.
First of all, I wasn't trying to be funny. Secondly, we may have "pulled out" of Iraq, but don't suppose for one second that we don't continue to have a military presence in the middle east, including Iraq. They are barbarians, don't get me wrong. Murder is never ok. And it's especially sad that they didn't care that he was only a journalist and not a soldier. But to think that the United States is somehow this harbinger of peace and freedom and that we do no wrong is further off the mark. The U.S. runs a war machine and profits heavily off of it. The powers that be thrive off of groups like this who give our leaders a reason to perpetually involve our nation in military conflict.
I invite you to please enlighten me if, in your opinion, I'm supposedly misguided or "off the mark" in my thinking. Do you have some knowledge of world politics or military policy that I'm unaware of?
I don't think that we can say that the motivation for the American government is profits. What we can say, is that we know that America doesn't intentionally target and kill unarmed civilians. ISIS deserves to be obliterated, because that is what justice demands. We can work out the rest of the grievances after that.
Matt, did you just intentionally call the US Military "the largest terrorist entity in the world"? Are you serious? Really? Is that the perspective you really have?
Indeed it is. I don't have to define "terrorism" for you, but our gov. has been terrorizing the world for nearly 100 years. Our military isn't used simply to "defend our nation's freedom" but to push our global agenda by way of force, coercion, and yes, intimidation. This is nothing new.
So anyone who has worn the uniform in the last nearly 100 years is a terrorist? President Obama, as commander and chief of the military is a terrorist? Terrorism is the central theme in your assertion so it is incumbent upon you to define it, especially as it relates to the activities of the American solider.
terrorism (noun): The use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims. I didn't feel the need to define the term since I assume you have the ability to search google or use a dictionary. I recognize that mere soldiers simply follow orders. Therefore the decision-makers in charge of the branches of military that order these soldiers to take lives and impose the staggering force that is the American military industrial complex, are in fact terrorists.
If it were as easy as everyone reading a common definition then everyone would agree on the bible. So what are some of the sources you have used to shape your perspective.
I don't get your bible reference. Do you somehow have a different definition of the word terrorism than everybody else that speaks the English language? The bible is a book of worldviews and has nothing to do with defining a word.
The bible reference is to say that you and I can read the same words but still walk away with a much different understanding/application if what they mean. Continued in new thread...
MattLockhart, You call many of my family and friends terrorists...or carrying out such acts, which is complete bull shit. It's highly offensive and rude. Despite your education you are still very ignorant of the military, what they sacrifice and what they do. You have no idea how much restraint is used in both air and ground engagements to NOT harm innocents. I find what you assert insulting and ass backwards. There is an entire other perspective you are lacking. Were you and I face to face when you said such things, you might not have walked away. I lack the patience to engage you further on the matter. Good day!
I too have family and friends in the military, Chet. Don't assume I'm ignorant of their sacrifice. Most service men and women are not only brave, but in many cases selfless individuals whose sole motivation for joining the military was to defend not only the citizens of the United States, but to uphold the ideals and fundamentals our great nation was built upon. I applaud these individuals and respect them. However, when our leaders begin to fabricate scenarios, lie to their citizens, and blatantly manipulate public opinion to thrust our brave service men and women into wars we have no business being in, that my friend is terrorism. We are the worlds strongest, most intimidating military force, and it's not by accident. Our leaders maintain power through force and intimidation and subsequently push political agendas and turn profits. You cannot deny these things happen. What you can do is choose to turn a blind eye out of nationalistic pride. I don't mean to offend, Chet. I simply wish to shed light on alternative points of view.
Lastly, as I'm re-reading your previous post, don't fucking assume things about people you don't know. You don't know where I come from, what perspectives I have or whether or not you'd beat me in a fight, you ass! If you don't have the patience to conduct a civil conversation with someone who disagrees with you without threatening them, I suggest you see a professional.
I seriously doubt your personal affiliations in the first paragraph. I spent 12 hours being civil with you to try and be sure where you are coming from. You are a nieve beta-male, and I have no respect for your perspective on this. My wife is currently over there and you called her a terrorist. You still don't realize how insulting you have been, that is clear. I am furious still.
Whatever, man. Wallow in your fury, continue to miss the point, and keep feeding the beast. I never called your wife a terrorist; I don't know your wife. I DO, however, wish your wife was with you, instead of fighting someone else's war over there, wherever "there" may be.
Only furious when I hear you talk about things that you obviously do not have knowledge of. Do you know the restraint of the military UAV pilots to avoid civilian casualities? The targets that get passed over simply because of their proximity? From your comments, No. If you did, you would not have called the US Military "the largest and most powerful terrorist entity in the world" AND doubled down on those comments. You triangulated to say it was our leadership that is corrupt etc. and I have no argument with that. Your characterization was insulting to anyone who does or has worn the uniform because you were "fucking assuming things about people you don't know". However, I have followed enough of your conversations on this site to realize that you aren't ever wrong. It was my mistake to even engage you on the matter. I GET your points later down the chain: our leaders are corrupt and foreign policy is terrorism if it isn't done with a pen and a dove. It's a shallow and typical leftist approach. If you don't want people to miss your point, you should take better care in framing your statements.

Wow. So off the mark, it's not even funny.
Which "land" of ISIS' are we "occupying"? Or did you forget that our President completely pulled out of Iraq?
Your murder apologia is noted.
