I think they despise the fact that the United States military, the largest and most powerful terrorist entity in the world, is occupying their land. Yes, our western worldviews and lifestyle is quite different than theirs, but they are pissed because our military is over there, not because of our "liberties". Unless of course by "liberties" you mean how we take the liberty of strong-arming other countries into submitting to the "western democratic" power system.
Either way, you're right that we Americans need to wake up. Wake up from our television induced stupor where we live our lives under a veil of lies and deceit woven by our corporate government.
First of all, I wasn't trying to be funny. Secondly, we may have "pulled out" of Iraq, but don't suppose for one second that we don't continue to have a military presence in the middle east, including Iraq. They are barbarians, don't get me wrong. Murder is never ok. And it's especially sad that they didn't care that he was only a journalist and not a soldier. But to think that the United States is somehow this harbinger of peace and freedom and that we do no wrong is further off the mark. The U.S. runs a war machine and profits heavily off of it. The powers that be thrive off of groups like this who give our leaders a reason to perpetually involve our nation in military conflict.
I invite you to please enlighten me if, in your opinion, I'm supposedly misguided or "off the mark" in my thinking. Do you have some knowledge of world politics or military policy that I'm unaware of?
I don't think that we can say that the motivation for the American government is profits. What we can say, is that we know that America doesn't intentionally target and kill unarmed civilians. ISIS deserves to be obliterated, because that is what justice demands. We can work out the rest of the grievances after that.

Indeed it is. I don't have to define "terrorism" for you, but our gov. has been terrorizing the world for nearly 100 years. Our military isn't used simply to "defend our nation's freedom" but to push our global agenda by way of force, coercion, and yes, intimidation. This is nothing new.

Despite your education you are still very ignorant of the military, what they sacrifice and what they do. You have no idea how much restraint is used in both air and ground engagements to NOT harm innocents. I find what you assert insulting and ass backwards. I too have family and friends in the military, Chet. Don't assume I'm ignorant of their sacrifice. Most service men and women are not only brave, but in many cases selfless individuals whose sole motivation for joining the military was to defend not only the citizens of the United States, but to uphold the ideals and fundamentals our great nation was built upon. I applaud these individuals and respect them. However, when our leaders begin to fabricate scenarios, lie to their citizens, and blatantly manipulate public opinion to thrust our brave service men and women into wars we have no business being in, that my friend is terrorism. We are the worlds strongest, most intimidating military force, and it's not by accident. Our leaders maintain power through force and intimidation and subsequently push political agendas and turn profits. You cannot deny these things happen. What you can do is choose to turn a blind eye out of nationalistic pride. I don't mean to offend, Chet. I simply wish to shed light on alternative points of view.
Lastly, as I'm re-reading your previous post, don't fucking assume things about people you don't know. You don't know where I come from, what perspectives I have or whether or not you'd beat me in a fight, you ass! If you don't have the patience to conduct a civil conversation with someone who disagrees with you without threatening them, I suggest you see a professional.
