A Malaysia Airlines passenger plane with 295 people aboard was blown out of the sky Thursday by a surface-to-air missile in a possible terrorist attack.

The Boeing 777 commercial airliner, headed for Amsterdam from Kuala Lumpur, went down about 25 miles from the Russian border in Ukraine — sending a plume of smoke into the sky after crashing, authorities said.

All aboard, including a reported 23 American passengers, were presumed dead.
