"While the movie was beautiful, it was sluggish at times, especially in the first half." I agree but you have to remember that movies these days go for a fast pace overall. Go watch a movie from the 70s, like Three Days of the Condor for example, and the pacing seems so slow at times. Our attention spans are not what they used to be.
Totally, 100% agree with that point (heck, STAR WARS is pretty slow-paced when you watch it now!). I actually prefer movies that aren't so fast-paced. I can't explain why Iron Giant felt so sluggish in the beginning. I just didn't see what they were trying to establish with some of it. Just one man's opinion. And thanks for reading, man!
