Ok, I only shave once a week because my beard doesn't really grow that fast… plus I work mostly from home. I've been using the same gilette fusion (5-blade) for nearly 5 years without using this trick. Now I'm hoping to get another 5! Thanks for sharing, these blades are expensive.

5 years?! That has to be a record. I also shave about once a week (see: beard), but a blade a year is pretty cost effective.

I have been using the same cartridge in my Gillette Fusion for over a year. I shave with an old Amway product, LOC. No, i don't sell it. But I get a great shave every time. If I apply this trick my cartridge will probably last me at least 10 years.

I've tried this before and I do have to say it works rather well. Another thing that I have tried is drying the razor with a towel or hair dryer after use. Putting it away wet seems to shorten the life of the razor.
