Can you believe this piece of shit? Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.) said in an interview with Roll Call on Thursday that members of Congress are underpaid and can't afford to live "decently" in Washington.
“I think the American people should know that the members of Congress are underpaid,” Moran said. “I understand that it’s widely felt that they underperform, but the fact is that this is the board of directors for the largest economic entity in the world.”
Members of Congress make $174,000 per year currently.

I wish my family made just half of that. And he only works half of the year? Sure. That's fair.

The fact that these worthless bastards collect a pension after they 'retire', is heartbreaking as well. I've got no problem chipping in for anyone that actually served their country, ie...military, but these guys are simply criminals that get to vote on their own salary.

Yet, he'll get re-elected...

He's actually retiring, so I'm sure inside of a year he'll be collecting his pension and working for a lobbying group making 6 figures again.

Ugg..I would have loved to see him voted out. You know the fact that he is retiring is probably why he felt safe enough to say what he did. Just makes you wonder how many others are thinking the same thing he is but can't say it because they want o be reelected.

Further proof that both parties are so far removed from the average working families daily lives and expenses. They work for us (Both Parties) but ask either how much for a gallon of milk, gallon of gas, average utility bill or house payment for a 3 bedroom brick and see how in tune they are to us. I have voted for 35 years.. mostly Republican but from now on it will always be some form of an independent.

More pay to them, less in budget to actual important things, so they create more ear marks and they have to do "a lot more work" so then they vote to increase pay...the cycle continues

We build a web site. There we list the issues that are most important to us, and vote on them, which sets their priority in the list. We vote every current member out of congress and the senate, all of them, no matter how "good", and we inform the next group that they have 1 year to fix the top five issues to our satisfaction or we fire them all again.
Problem solved.
