If there is no more information that comes out (not that I would particularly trust the word of the police as ther have been other incidents of power abuse by police in TX) I hope this girl ends up a very wealthy woman at the expense of that police department.
She hopefully will. Police abuse is rampant. I think it's pretty obvious what happened here (power trip) in this case and while I agree she should make millions off of this, the more interesting thing to watch will be how these cops will get paid vacation and the taxpayers will ultimately foot the bill.
During my years in Austin, the police dept. was rampant with corruption. The people deserve it because they keep voting for it as this girl no doubt did.

This is by far what frustrates me the most. Any money awarded from a lawsuit should come from police pension funds, or from insurance purchased by the department or officers themselves. Having the tax payers shoulders the burden does little to prevent incidents like this one from occurring again in the future.
If the description is accurate, and I'm not sure how he'd recognize jay walking citations from across the street, then she most likely did nothing wrong. Cops can sometimes over-react. We should all be very familiar with how our rights work in the states we're in and then vigorously defend those rights. Heavens knows that our politicians don't seem to be too interested in defending them.

Looks like the cops should have been the ones jogging, if you know what I mean...

It took four of them? What, were they afraid she was going to run away from them, and they knew they were not in the shape to catch her?
