Did you hear about the Arapahoe High School shooting last week where a killer shot dozens of high school students and hacked more to death with a machete before setting the building on fire with molotov cocktails? No? Because a man with a gun was able to stop it before it happened. Gun-free zones cost innocent lives.

And you won't hear about this off-duty sheriff (I believe it was) facing down the coward killed himself. The reality does not go along with the media message. Did many people hear about the guy in Oregon who (thankfully) disregarded that mall's "no guns" signs and also prevented a massacre when the guy saw him and reacted the same way this kid did? No. If the media reports that little bit of information they don't get to mock Wayne LaPierre for his "bad guys with guns are stopped by good guys with guns" statement. Even in the gun-friendly state my cousin lives in, he hadn't heard this so I had to update him just the other day.

You also won't hear that this kid was a active socialist and was hyper-anti-gun. I only heard little blurbs about it because it happened down the street from me but I bet 99% of the nation won't ever know that.

Background checks are unlikely to stop these things happening either - teenagers simply haven't had long enough to develop a full background.
It's sad that school shootings have become another method of suicide, but all said I'd prefer the good guys to have guns than not.
