Some of their questions were self-answering, like, "Where's the love for...Blue...and...Tapestry?" Why not throw Jagged Little Pill in there too so we know for sure the answer is, "It's only loved by PMS'ing chicks."

Why is Miles Davis' Kind Of Blue on there? His nephew lives by us and took my 15-year-old piano-playing son to an MD "revival" concert the nephew was playing drums for at the Hollywood Bowl and my son was appalled. He's a bigger fan of classical and some pop music; because it makes sense. Hell, I played in a jazz-fusion band and I have no use for it. I'm sure some people really love free-form jazz but many are influenced by critics telling them they *should* like this stuff. For the most part jazz does not win the hearts and minds.

And why the surprise at the dearth of hip-hop/rap music? Even with all the peer influence my son punches the radio button whenever the local Alt station heads in that direction. One of my bigger surprises is that he tends to listen to my 60's stuff on his iPhone.

Many of the points these guys bring up warrant a longer discussion. Like, if the 50's and 60's are most beloved and the Beatles are the most beloved of the era, where is A Hard Day's Night? Some day we will have to have a beer and talk it over. Even if it's over Skype or FaceTime.

Oh, wait. NPR. Their demographic answers every question we or the authors might have.
