The problem is, the people causing all the problems aren't the ones being furloughed. Congress and the white house are both still working (and getting paid). The people suffering are those working for NASA, the EPA, and FDA, etc.

I'm sure there are some good employees in these agencies (well, not the EPA) but, as an ex-fed myself I can tell you these numbers are dropping fast. B-HO's dream of almost everyone working for the government has caused a rash of, how should I put this?, useless MF's getting jobs there.

That's just like the whole 'Sequestration' non-issue. He sent out an memo to branches asking them to "make it hurt" meaning do things you wouldn't otherwise to annoy the people into thinking that that the sequestration was bad. All of this over a 2% cut in the increase of the budget. What a joke.

The politicians aren't the ons out of work. It's the hardworking members of NASA, the FDA, EPA, National Park Rangers, etc. that are the ones being hurt by Republican immaturity.

I'd be happy to expand: Roughly half of the defense department's civilian contractors, the CDC, the Department of Agriculture, the Smithsonian Museums, the National Zoo, National Park Rangers, Federal Court employees, the Board of Veteran Appeals, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, etc. etc. etc. Overall there are almost 800,000 employees affected by this. It's not fair to hold them hostage over policy disagreements.
Sexism, intolerance, homophobia, etc. has nothing to do with it (although it's unfortunate that those traits are letting many Republican leaders misrepresent American conservatives). The fact of the matter is, House Republicans are holding the government hostage over a policy they do not like. One which was passed in 2010, declared constitutional by the Supreme Court, and has survived 41 attempts to repeal it. For better or worse, Obamacare is a DONE DEAL. It's time to move on, and stop throwing wrenches into the gears out of spite. But hey, maybe this is a great idea right? Who knows, perhaps we could've avoided the war in Iraq if the Dems had just been courageous enough to shut down the government.
