The guardians of the Tower of London
‘If the ravens leave the Tower, the kingdom will fall…’
There are seven ravens at the Tower today (the required six plus one spare!). These ravens all have one wing clipped to help keep them at the Tower. It was Charles II (1660-1685, according to the stories, who first insisted that the ravens of the Tower should be protected.
